Out with the old and in with the new? Well there is an element of truth in that. But we think many old things are worth taking with you into the New year.
If you are throwing a new year’s eve party what about these menus for ease. Spend the majority of your time getting into your LBD!
Sticky mini sausages: Buy the best quality cocktails sausages you can find, marinate them in 2 tablespoons of each of the following honey, grain mustard and tomato ketchup and 2 teaspoons of Henderson’s Relish. Place on a baking tray and cook until brown around 35 minutes at 200C, Gas mark 6.
Mini Smoked mackerel blinis: Buy a pack of blinis or make your own (Make a pancake batter but use self-raising flour), 2 smoked mackerel fillets, 2 tablespoons of creme fraiche or Greek yoghurt, chopped dill or chopped spring onions. Mix mackerel with creme fraiche adding dill mix then place teaspoons of mixture on blinis.
Crab cucumbers: Slice chunks of cucumber about one inch deep and top with 1 tin of crab meat which has been mixed with half a finely chopped chilli (no seeds) and the juice of half a lime and a splash of Thai fish sauce.
Place bowls of olives, stuffed peppers, feta cheese, gherkins, onions, tortilla chips. crisps, bread sticks, hot sausage rolls and dips out.
