You’ve made your decision it’s time to pop the question. How it’s done is down to the couple themselves, however, we offer our romantic picnics which are a lovely way to create a romantic scene and crack open the bubbly when the answer is Yes!
Announcing the engagement is a huge step in a couple’s life. Telling the family first, then your best friends, in person, then maybe an engagement announcement card to everyone else. This often results in a frenzy of everyone you know wishing to spend some time with you to talk about your future plans this may be a good time to arrange an engagement party. Getting everyone together to celebrate the forthcoming event will offer you the chance to talk about it to everyone at once, but more importantly, giving everyone the chance to meet with each other before the wedding.
Often nowadays the bride and groom come from different parts of the country and so the families have never met before. It will be so much easier for everyone, if they meet up before the wedding and therefore know who is who!
It is customary for the brides mother to write to the grooms parents to express their happiness at the future marriage. Details such as locations, dates, numbers of guests, venues, budgets will be a good thing to discuss amongst both families.
The engagement party is a great excuse for a family to get to know each other and friends and family will want to see the couple in person to show their excitement at their news. You need to invite the guests to the engagement party who will also be invited to the wedding. many guests will want to bring an engagement gift and may ask what your wedding list is so try to get together and make a short list, so you can let people know what you would like.
Local department stores usually offer a wedding list service and will add your engagement details and which gifts you would like to the list. You may wish to ask people to donate money to a charity for an engagement gift, so look into the details in advance before your guests ask you!
Remember to send out Thank you cards to all your guests for coming to the party and for any gifts you receive.
